Hey, Hoge, Want Some Crow with that Foot?
We have long been fans of Vince Young. Even when he (allegedly) bombed the Wonderlic Test, we still had confidence that he could succeed at the next level. The guy is one of the greatest leaders and winners in the history of college football. After leading the Tennessee Titans to an amazing comeback win last week, and the franchise's most points in a quarter since 1961, VY is starting to show signs that he will be an unqualified success at the next level. Many predicted he would be good; some predicted he’d be great.
A few were bold/dumb enough to think the former Longhorn didn’t have the skills or intangibles necessary to make it. One such blowhard/idiot was ESPN’s Merril Hoge. Following a pre-season game, Hoge railed against #10, declaring that there were “no signs of this guy ever being a bona fide, legitimate good quarterback in the National Football League.”
Told of Hoge's idiotic take, Young, in the amended words of Pedro Martinez, reportedly asked, "Who is Karim Garcia Merril Hoge?"
