Mark Kozelek Little Drummer Live (Caldoverde)
Our favorite Red House Painter is offering a 2 disc collection of songs mostly recorded directly to CDR during his European and North American tour this year. Kozelek's varied influences, favorites and fetishes all come into play here, as we hoped, with everything from Modest Mouse, AC/DC and Cars covers (who can live without a really good live version of "All Mixed Up"? We certainly can't) to Painters favorites ("Down Colorful Hill"). His Bon Scott tribute "Rock N Roll Singer" as well as two previously un-released tracks color the remainder of this limited edition release, so hurry up, wipe those tears later.

Midlake Milkmaid Grand Army EP (Basement Front)
Originally released in 2001, Milkmaid is a full and appeasing EP that might help fans of the 2006 darlings Midlake connect the dots between their earlier sound and their present one. This year has been huge for the band, so it's no surprise that they're re-releasing some older stuff. After a year spent touring (some of it in support of the Flaming Lips in Europe) and the critically-acclaimed Trials of Van Occupanther, they're reaping the benefits of music geeks everywhere wanting to put their hands on older material.
