Austinist Preview & Giveaway: ...Trail of Dead w/ the Blood Brothers and Brothers and Sisters at Emo's

…And You Will Know Us By The Trail Of Dead has been supplying inventive rock music and raucous live performances for over a decade now. What started out as a two man entertainment outfit headed by Conrad Keely and Jason Reece has grown over the years into a five-piece, dual-drums-pronged machine that abides no discernible formula when it comes to expansive rock.

In 2003, the band found its mature side, employing the Tosca String Quartet at select shows to accentuate the layered dimensions of their newer material. Although hit or miss with many of the band’s loyal fans, Trail of Dead’s latest record, So Divided, continues in the vein of lush soundscapes with assorted instrumentation, but also supplies excellent pop/rock fare. An after-party at the Beauty Bar complete with DJ sets by band members is included in the scheduled entertainment for the night, but probably not in the cover charge for the Emo’s show.

Supporting will be the sibling-soaked line up of the Blood Brothers and Brothers and Sisters. Not dissimilar from Trail of Dead’s early days, the Blood Brothers combine frenetic punk and metal to conjure cacophonous streams of post-rock. The latter, who hail from Austin, have garnered rave reviews of late for their alt-country musings. Spearhead Will Courtney is an able bard, penning poignant pop, and assembling multi-instrumental structures for the eight-piece that also features the versatile and afore-mentioned Conrad Keely. We call it entertainment fit for (most of) the family, and we'd love for you to see the show for free:
