The folks over at Pluck have hit the big time, signing a major deal with Reuters that will allow the news giant to carry syndicated content from Pluck's BlogBurst.
BlogBurst streams syndicated content to mainstream media from over 2,800 blogs. In addition to agreeing to carry BlogBurst’s contents, Reuters made a financial investment in Pluck. The deal allows Reuters to use BlogBurst’s content alongside its stories, which will then get picked up by thousands of news organizations around the world. The deal is yet another feather in the cap of the Austin-based Pluck, which has already landed usage agreements with The Washington Post, Gannett News, The San Francisco Chronicle, Austin American-Statesman and others.
"With Pluck, we will help our worldwide media partners offer their readers smart and fast access to the best in the blogosphere," said Chris Ahearn, Reuters Media President, in a statement. "This is part of Reuters' continuing strategy to embrace new digital platforms, including user-generated and moderated content as well as community tools, to deliver next-generation news and information."
Reuters surely hopes the relationship can helps keep mainstream media up to speed with the ubiquity of citizen journalism on the web. In other news, Larry King recently admitted that he’s never used the internets. Shocker.
