Those kids from Rilo Kiley seem to have more side projects than you could shake a side project shaking stick at. Among these non-Rilo Kiley ventures is Blake Sennett's (Rilo Kiley's guitarist/co-songwriter) band, the Elected. Somewhere between indie pop and alt country, the Elected feature genuine steel guitar and sweet harmonies just almost reminescent of 1960s film scores. They'll be serving up music to swoon to at Emo's Lounge tonight.
Rounding out the bill are Margot and the Nuclear So and Sos and Whispertown 2000. Margot et. al. won us over shortly after Pandora started playing "Jen is Bringing the Drugs" every time we logged in. The music's bittersweet and atmospheric, sort of like if you took 1 part Pavement and 2 parts Cardigans with a dash of Paul Simon, then served it on the rocks with a Paxil. As for Whispertown 2000, don't let the big numbers fool you; they're downtempo indie folk replete with harmonies and guitar-strumming.
Check them out for yourself, on our ... imaginary dime:

the lead singer of Whisper 2000 is h-o-t. oh, and a great songwriter.
The music to swoon to is tonight, not tomorrow, which is consistent with your info at the bottom. So, yeah.
