Preview and Giveaway: Joan Jett and The Blackhearts @ Stubb's Tuesday

The woman who encouraged us to shove dimes into jukeboxes long after they had switched to quarters, triggering a nationwide coin shortage in the early 80s, is coming to Austin. Joan Jett, the hottest 46 year old since Tina Turner in 1985 (or Madonna in 2004, for that matter), is still lovin' rock and roll, touring like a madwoman and turning her nose up at the prospect of ever investing in a pair of Mom jeans.
But she's accomplished so much more than you could possibly imagine. Jett has played with artists ranging from Peaches to the Trans-Siberian Orchestra, had nine top 40 hit singles, eight Platinum and Gold LPs, and starred in a film with Michael J. Fox (!). Forming her first band, The Runaways, at the age of 15, Jett toured the world with Cheap Trick, Van Halen, and Tom Petty, all before she turned 20. Thirty-four years later she's still at it.
Along with her backing band The Blackhearts she'll be at Stubb's this coming Tuesday, playing with rock up-and-comers Eagles of Death Metal (featuring Queens Of the Stone Age frontman Josh Homme). She's also keeping it real by enlisting local rock 'n' roll wingnuts The Riverboat Gamblers to start the night off with their distinctively insane brand of punk. Its gonna be a helluva ride, so come out and pay homage to a woman who's been demonstrating her abiliy to shred since before most of us were born.

Congratulations, Neil!
