We learn this afternoon from trustworthy sources that NBC has ordered a full season's worth of episodes of Friday Night Lights. This means more shooting in our area, more jobs for local actors, and it's a great vote of confidence by the network for a show filmed outside of Hollywood.
Tomorrow night it's Homecoming in Dillon, and all hell breaks loose. Street now knows that his girlfriend is gettin' it on with his best friend Tim. The coach is coming under fire for helping "encourage" Katrina evacuee Voodoo to join the team (but we all know it's Lyla's dad's fault).
While there is mucho melodrama on this show, the relationship and rapport between the coach (Kyle Chandler) and his wife (Connie Britton) keep the show down-to-earth. We also like Matt Saracen (Zach Gilford) and his cute stutter.

Texas high school football on prime time. Yawn. Wait - maybe a Big Hair Cam stationed at the Cafe in the Dallas Neiman Marcus, now that'd be entertainment!
Some lady came into my office the other day telling everybody how she was sooo busy and stressed 'cause "we're shooting Friday Night Lights tonight." She was sniffling and spreading germs everywhere. Probably one of those cheesedicks' mom. Thanks for giving your tv-person germs Miss Hollywood! Grumble grumble.
I'm not a big fan of the show, but you have to admit that it is nice that it's shot here and most of the cast is from right here in Austin. Better than a bunch of spoiled hollywood kids living here and being assholes all the time when they're out.
Spreading germs is bad though - no matter how busy you are.
