Giveaway: Ben Folds Tonight At Stubb's

It doesn't seem that long ago, but it has been nearly 10 years since Ben Folds Five were alternative radio kings with Whatever And Ever Amen. The success led to conflict within the band, which only managed one more album before a messy break-up.

Ben Folds has done a lot since then: turned 40, moved to Adelaide, Australia, started a family, and released two solo albums and two live recordings. Last year's Songs For Silverman was a well-received collection of story songs and included "Landed," a fantastic tune about friends who disappear into bad relationships only to emerge years later in total disrepair (see the video below). That tune and Folds' hits such as "Brick" and "Song For The Dumped" show a pithy, arched way with words that has helped him maintain a loyal fan base despite limited radio play of late.

Folds is also a fan of internet releases, and frequently puts out new material via iTunes and his website. His new disc Supersunnyspeedgraphic compiles the best tracks from his numerous internet EP's, including covers of The Divine Comedy, The Cure, and, erm, The Darkness. Don't ask us.

Ben Folds plays the (incredibly pleasant during late fall) Stubb's outdoor theatre tonight with Tiny Tim-like novelty act Corn Mo' opening. Austinist has a pair of tickets for our readers, so if you'd like to sing about being underground or getting back your black t-shirt, enter now.

Congrats, winner!

Terrific concert. He did a nice little improv song about Las Manitas, too.
My only complaints were the long wait, and being a dumbass and forgetting to wear a jacket.
