Local Residents Shot in Drive Thru

cry.jpgDo we have your attention?

We love creating hysterical fear. Not really. Any of the ways…flu season is upon us. We can already fell the achy legs and stuffy heads coming on. The countless calls to friends to bring us soup and leave it with our door man. OK.

To help expedite the flu immunization process, the Austin/Travis County Health and Human Services Department is offering flu shots at drive-thru locations, in addition to their regular schedule of sit-down shots.

With flu shots in increasing demand over the past few years, the Austin/Travis County Health and Human Services Department offers shots to a select few. Flu shots are available to all Medicare recipients (please bring card) and uninsured or under-insured Travis County residents who meet any of the following criteria:

  • Currently pregnant
  • 50 years of age and older
  • 9 years of age or older with a chronic disorder or disease (Heart and lung disease, diabetes, blood disorder, weakened immune system)
  • Persons who live with or care for persons at high risk or children less than 6 months of age
  • Healthcare workers who provide direct patient care

*CDC recommends flu shots for infants 6 - 59 months of age. Please contact your pediatrician or call Shots for Tots at 972-5520 for an appointment.

All shots are free (suggested donation is $10).
