I meant "transience."
BTW: The Natalie Imbroglio rip off was excellent.

Dear Craig:

Thankfully journalistic integrity was never on the table. I actually enjoyed the non-sequiter mad-lib Truesday a little bit more. Regardless, everyone is entitled to an opinion, still, some can just, as S. Dogg once put it, eat a dick.

Will the legacy of Gallery Lombardi live in the collective experiences of individuals who are free to cherish memories as they see fit... or will it be remembered more as a pile of rubble that serves as a base for luxury condos that was once a nice spot to party run by thoughtful, cultured people who, in the bittersweet transcience of urban life, abandoned their artistic ideals to become petty, whining thought police? What's the fun in life if you can't take the piss every once in awhile?

Thanks for the alterations...

I want to note that for the first time since I started this column, I am changing a [this] post just slightly to accommodate a rather snarky Gallery Lombardi worker/owner/whatever who has, over the course of the day, become my best friend in the whole wide world. They aren’t very appreciative of what they refer to as my ‘beer story’, and appear to be under the impression that I’m a fraternaturd who brags about drinking warm lonestar.

Hm. Fuck it. Maybe they’re right! I’m cool either way.

Apparently my love for Lombardi is not reciprocated, and that's just dandy.

Again, for the record, I'm adjusting my entry just slightly to accommodate a venue that has done right by local artists for years now. I wish no harm on them and theirs.

Feel free to question my journalistic integrity as a result of this adjustment. But please remember: blood from a turnip, algebra from mashed potatoes, and a picnic from a herpes outbreak.

well, this is quite the imbroglio. wait, a second...

I thought I saw a gallery fight for its life
It was stark, served warm beer and was not too dignified
It’s where I saw an emo boy cry

Well you couldn’t be that gallery I adored
You don’t seem to know, don’t seem to care what free beer is for
But I don’t know need you anymore
There’s nothing where art used to lie
The Lone Star keg has run dry
That’s what’s going on, nothings fine I’m torn

You’re all out of beer, this is how I feel
I’m cold and I am shamed lying naked on the floor
Illusion never changed into something real
I’m wide awake and I can see the gallery is torn
The beer’s a little stale, and I’m already torn

So I guess the developers were right
Should have seen the capitalistic opportunity and not some holy light
To crawl beneath my veins and now
I don’t care, I have no luck, I don’t miss it all that much
There’s just so many beers I can’t drink, I’m torn

You’re all out of beer, this is how I feel
I’m cold and I am shamed lying naked on the floor
Illusion never changed into something real
I’m wide awake and I can see the gallery is torn
The beer’s a little stale, and I’m already torn

There’s nothing where art used to lie
The Lone Star keg has run dry
That’s what’s going on, nothings fine I’m torn

Craig is a plague (hey that rhymes) on Austin culture. Now that we have won the war on terror/drugs/education we can proceed to the war on intertron columnists that are actually entertaining which will be a sub-war of the war on senses of humor and ironic authorial/narrative tone.

Resident either a) is trolling or b) has never actually been to a Gallery Lombardi event. I can't think of any other explanations.

Personally I prefer art when I'm drunk. And perhaps making art by dispersing his paint on the canvas of the floor is Craig's way to contribute. Who are you to judge you bastard. I'm guessing resident of a facility of some sort, am I right?

Resident is exactly the kind of person who ruins art for artists. Most likely, s/he took exception to "...convinced that he had to ‘endure’ the world when it was, quite sadly, always the other way around."

R: Fuck off before I throw you at/from/under a train.

I love people who express their opinion that other people shoudlnt' be allowed to have opinions. Classic "resident". I noticed you didn't put Austinite - so here's an idea, why don't you go back to where YOU came from.

Dear "author",

Please don't write anymore on this site. Better yet, please move back to where you came from. Your attitude is better suited in another city, like say Columbus, but not Austin.

If your #1 point about Gallery Lombardi is "throwing shit at the trains as they slowly chugged past", please get out of Austin now. "Just because (you) wanted to see what fifteen half-consumed drinks would look like if they were to take flight across an extremely crowded lounge area" is not how to act in a private art gallery - save that for your Texas State kegger.

Attitudes like yours ruin the reputation of the city. Keep Austin weird, not shitty.

- Resident.
