Local Galleries Say Goodbye With Farewell Fêtes

Ed Note: Corrections below.

Whether to make way for the latest loft development or for personal reasons, two of Austin's more interesting art galleries will bid adieu this weekend. Gallery Lombardi, after being voted Best Art Gallery (alongside Women & Their Work) in this year's AusChron Readers Poll, is being forced to vacate their premises as construction begins on the $70 million Spring condominium project. They're hosting an "End of the World" Party that began last night begins next Thursday and runs through Saturday:

Thursday, October 26th at Lombardi

Wonder Jam Twins, For Those Who Know, A Featherweight Burden, David Israel

Friday, October 27th at Lombardi

DJ Calvin, Super Sonic Soul Squad, Arab League, Vehicular, Ethan Azarian. 8pm

Saturday, October 28th at Lombardi

Visuals by Super!Alright!, DJ Sets (possible by Car Stereo (Wars) and/or DJ Bigface), Single Frame, Loxsly, The Black, Real Live Tigers. 8pm

Meanwhile, on the other side of I-35, Iron Gate Studios prepares to say goodbye this Saturday after three years of contributions to the eastside's fast-evolving arts community. They're not officially closing their doors until December, but Saturday evening's party nevertheless functions as their final farewell and benefit:

Saturday at Iron Gate Studios

Photography installation by co-owner Quin Matteson, Live music by The Troublemen, Scorpion Rising, The Lowelies, Stacey Miller. Donations will fund the film "Forward/Backward," by co-owner Elizabeth Spear and Kendall Lynch. 7:30pm

All three events have a suggested $5 donation. Both flyers after the jump!
