GoogTube! GoogTube! GoogTube! Here's what's new at the record store:

behe.jpg Annuals Be He Me (Ace Fu)

Because of (or in despite of) their popularity with the blogging set, Annuals' highly anticipated album, Be He Me, is sure to be a hit this week. For fans of Arcade Fire, Broken Social Scene, and yes, even Animal Collective, Annuals add a bit of punch to the whole "we're pretending to be lo-fi but really we spent a year in the studio" vibe that seems to be so popular now. The kids love quiet/loud songs, and "Brother" is one of the best out there, even if it turns out that the entire album can't live up to the "OMG Pitchfork freaked out" hype surrounding it.

frapp.jpg Goldfrapp We Are Glitter (Mute)

House, trance and several other descriptors you may or may not be wholly sure the meaning of influence the remixes you've no doubt been anticipating after being bombarded with Supernature, featuring the mixing artistry of he Flaming Lips, DFA, C2 (aka Carl Craig), Benny Benassi, Ewan Pearson, François K, and Alan Braxe & Fred Falke, among others. Album of the fall for Beauty Bar DJ rejects.

under.jpg Editor's Pick: Under Byen Samme Stoff Som Stof (Paper Bag)

Under Byen (pronounced Oh’nah-Boon) have created a masterful and unique work that is at once the lace glove and the wool mitten you've been longing for this fall. Full of experimental sound play that never sounds experimental, dual drummers that aren't redundant, and built microphones that distort lovely vocals into something even lovelier, Samme Stoff Som Stof begs to be considered as one of the year's most impressive works. Unlike so many bands that appear seemingly out of nowhere with the shelf life of a half-eaten apple, Under Byen offer a lush, incredibly dense and ethereal landscape of sound, with a style that stands in stark contrast to the rest of the world's perceptions. More impressive yet is the Canadian label's choice of Under Byen as their first international release: a testament to faith in good music against a sea of loud/quiet pseudo-vintage keyboard bands.
