We Hold Grudges, Too: This Week's New Movie Releases!

If you can ignore Sarah Michelle Gellar’s strained cries for the prolongation of her career, you might see some good movies this weekend.
The Grudge 2
Those creepy Japanese ghosts are back. And they’re still holding that grudge. And apparently, we’ve got a trilogy on our hands now. Great.
Man of the Year
If you’re one of those people who are into the whole “Stewart/Colbert ‘08” uh, concept, seeing this movie might make you rethink your entire political belief system. Or rethink seeing movies. Ever.
*Shortbus
Wait, so, it’s real people, having real sex onscreen, but it’s not porn? And it’s being shown in regular theatres, where you don’t have to wear a disguise so your wife doesn’t recognize you ducking into some dilapidated building with a wad of tissues in your pocket? We might just have to check this out.
Infamous
Read our review!
*The Last King of Scotland
Everyone is saying how totally amazing Forest Whitaker is in this film. Man, poor Gillian Anderson just can’t catch a break.
The Marine
Here’s a quick summary from Austin360: “A discharged soldier returns home from Iraq and finds that his wife has been kidnapped by the gang of a murderous thugs.” Just when you think it’s safe to leave Iraq.
*Riding Alone for a Thousand Miles
A father’s journey to reconnect with his son. Tugs at our cold, black heart, it does.
*Zen Noir
Zen and the art of the murder mystery. Check out a Q&A with the director today and tomorrow
Queens (Reinas)
From imdb.com: “Five mothers cope with the drama that surrounds their gay sons at a mass wedding.” Sounds like a typical day with our family.
One Night with the King
An epic, Biblical sort of film. We’re not surprised that both Peter O’Toole and John Rhys-Davies are in this movie.
