UT Law Students Attempt Irony, Fail Miserably

UT Austin School of Law first-years ("1Ls") started off the term in rather poor fashion, earning the ire of law school dean Larry Sager and the Thurgood Marshall Legal Society after several students took part in a "Ghetto Fabulous" costume party.
According to the Daily Texan, photos from the event -- originally posted online but now since removed -- showed students "sporting Afro wigs, large necklaces with medallions and name-tags with fake historically black or Hispanic names while holding 40-ounce bottles of malt liquor." In an email sent to students, Sager lambasted the party as "singularly heedless and odious."
We'd expect these crass antics from the fraternity kids, given their penchant for egregiously offensive parties, but not from graduate students in one of the better programs in the country. 1L blogger Lunching With Lions has ongoing coverage from within, with excellent comments by anonymous UT law students.
