It's Easy Being Green, UT QSA Holds Pride Week
Starting today (actually, you are probably missing some of it right now, so hurry up and finish reading) The Queer Students Alliance of The University of Texas at Austin will be kicking off their sixth annual Pride Week. Until next Monday, October 16th, the QSA will be holding events from early in the morning til late in the evening--from rallies, conferences, workshops, movies and an AIDS walk at Waterloo Park. The theme for this year's festivities is It's Easy Being Green.
The QSA is a UT student organization established five years ago this month. Every year, they hold workshops, lectures, rallies and parties around October 11, National Coming Out Day. In addition to Pride Week, they organize Campus Awareness Week and weddings for Marriage Equality. Their mission is to work with the Student Government and various organizations on campus to "inform and educate the UT campus and students about GLBTQ issues."
The headline event for the week is today's Pride Rally. Begining at 11am til around 2pm on UT's West Mall, there will be an open mic for performers and speakers. They will also be handing out information, giveaways, as well as selling custom t-shirts for $5.
So, we're giving you a week to buy a t-shirt, watch a movie, hold a sign or take a walk, all for a good cause and a devoted student organization. Check out the day-by-day schedule after the jump.
