Our sources say amazing tacos can be found next to Austin's Pizza on South Lamar next to a tiny mobile trailer. Please advise.

Yes. Those tacos are awesome! This trailer used to be farther north on S. Lamar in the parking lot that is turning into the The Magnolia (more condos) across from Lamar Square. Try the Elgin sausage tacos, they are grand(e)!

  • the number for torchy's tacos is 512-366-0537

TOM (or anyone else here who knows) -

What is the telephone number for Torchy's Tacos? I know they deliver downtown, and I know that they have a phone number, but it is unlisted in the phonebook, is not in information, and is not online. Help!

Hey, you didn't say which tacos. Most places have one or two that really stand out. For example, best Al Pastor tacos from a truck are in the trailer parked between the Pawn shop and the Latin dance club on S. Congress @ Stasseny. Try 'em with a little (but not too much) of the fiery habanero - pickled onion salsa.

Caballerro's Taco Truck behind he East 6th st. Cool Store. Looks scary but worth the trip. Best carne guisada tacos in town.

  • Yeah, what a bunch of ass-hats.

  • Grape Ape

I'm so glad that Taco X-Press wasn't mentioned. Everyone stay away, you're ruining my weekends by taking up space there. Honestly though - by far the best breakfast tacos in town are there - now if only I could get away from those people talking about the "new taco joint on S. Lamar"

There's also amazing pizza next to this taco stand on S. Lamar, but I don't remember what it's called. I think it had "Austin's" in the name, though.

  • Tom

The taco stand on S. First is called Torchy's, and they've got the best damn tacos I've had in a while (and they're cheap too). Check out the fried avocado and the ancho chile pork tacos - they're outstanding!

Odam is such a snob. Get a bean and cheese and stop the hate.

    PS. you're a genius

Taco Grande(near Alamo South), Casa Garcias (near Alamo South), La Reyna(South 1st) and Habinero's(Oltorf). These are the best tacos you will ever have!

  • odam

yea, take 183 to Chump Blvd and take a right. head east to Culinary Fads Ln and take a right, and then stop at the fourth level of hell on your right.

  • Taco Chump

Oooo, I love this new feature. Anyone got a lead on some good breakfast tacos up the northwesterly way? Do tell! Pleeeeease!

  • Texbook closet case, breakfast taco loving self-loather.

  • odam

    Breakfast tacos are for chumps.

  • ashley

    best news feature ever.

  • Tom

This should totally become a regular feature. Like a Flashmob, only with tacos.

  • allen

those breakfast tacos were awesome. it's a little trailer, about the size of a chevy tahoe. maybe both are actually the same place? i only noticed it today.

  • Scott

I don't know about a new place on South Lamar, but there is a new taco stand on S. 1st, it's a little north of Elizabeth St. on the East side of the road. They've pulled a trailer into an abandoned parking lot.

All that being said...I haven't tried it yet. So, really, I'm no help at all.

    OK, goodbye.
