Will Watch for Food

092706CansFestivalBanner.jpgWe are insatiable movie lovers. Because we just haven’t had our fill of summer sunshine; are kept awake at night wondering how Edward Norton made a tree grow out of an orange seed; and want to gross ourselves out one more time on that Austin-filmed worms in a blender flick, we won’t be missing out on tomorrow night’s Cans Film Festival.

No, not the Cannes you find in far-away France. We’re talking about the cans that help fill shelves at the food banks here in Austin.

By bringing just three cans of food (or three other non-perishable food items, or a $3 donation) to one of the five Regal Entertainment Group theaters in town, we’ll get a small popcorn and admission to see one of these shows, or any other current release playing at the Westgate Central 11, Arbor Cinema at Great Hills, Gateway 16, Metropolitan 14 or Lakeline Mall 9.

A total of 44 Regal Entertainment Group theaters across the U.S. will participate in the Cans Film Festival, including theaters in Portland and Seattle, with all collections distributed to area food banks. Information on volunteering for this event can be found here.

AS A UP AND COMMING FILM MAKER HERE IN AUSTIN, IM BEGGIN AND PLEADING FOR YOU "PEOPLE" TO GET OUT AND SUPPORT THIS EVENT AND EVENTS JUST LIKE THIS ONE.

PLUS, AND I CAN SPEAK FROM EXPERIENCE HERE, WE NEED EXTRA FOOD IN THIS TOWN. ONE TIME I LIVED FOR A WEEK EATING LEFTOVERS FOUND IN BURGERKING WRAPPERS. DID YOU KNOW THAT IF YOU LEAVE THE LEFTOVERS IN THE WRAPPER OUT ON A BLACK ROAD IN AUGUST IT HEATS UP REAL NICE? JUST LIKE HOT OFF THE GRILL.

I ALSO PENNED A BOOK ON THOSE WRAPPERS, BUT THEY WERE STOLEN AND NOW SOME GUY IS FAMOUS OFF MY WORK.
