Peter and the Wolf Survive Sea Voyage, Sign With Worker's Institute

We were relieved to find out that Austin's own "wandering moon howler" Red Hunter, aka Peter and the Wolf, made it back safely after his whirlwind national tour -- the final leg of which was traversed by sea. Accompanied by Jana Hunter, The Castanets, some eye-patch-wearing fellow from WFMU and other assorted pirate types, the motley crew successfully navigated their way up the East Coast's Intracoastal Waterway.
Also, as Red mentioned in the interview we did with him a few months ago, Peter and the Wolf signed with indie label The Worker's Institute, in whose ranks one might find the likes of Sigur Ros and other folks with sweet European names, like Johann and Skúli. The Worker's Institute is scheduled to release PaTW's debut album, Lightness, sometime in the next few weeks. Red describes Lightness -- recorded in bedrooms, living rooms, and hotels around the country on 4-tracks and borrowed computers -- as being "about that feeling when you wake up all sentimental from a dream and you want to call your friends and ask, 'How is your health, how's your dad, how's travels? It's about those good mornings when you're just wishin' everybody well.'"
Sounds about right.
On October 10th, Peter and the Wolf will kick off their fall tour with a show at The Peacock.
