For Those About to (Yacht) Rock ...
Channel 101's now-defunct series, Yacht Rock, has made a remarkable internet comeback this summer, thanks to the bloggers who weren't afraid to sail on to Smooth Island. J.D. Ryznar and Hunter Stair's saga chronicled the beauty and secret hardships behind the genre of music best defined as "California's soft rock between the years 1976 and 1984," and covered everything from the messy Loggins and Messina breakup to the confusing-but-awesome transformation of Michael McDonald into the World's Greatest Back-Up Vocalist.
At last, fans of Yacht Rock can relax in the company of other smooth sailors, sip a cool beverage and enjoy their series on the big screen, as Alamo brings the show to its downtown location. The show will begin with a performance by Captain Smoothe, and Yacht Rock creator/director J.D. Ryznar (McDonald) will be making an appearance. Get out your captain's hats, kids, because it's time to chillax and let the ocean take you home. Home to Smooth Island.
