Willie Nelson: Still a Fun Guy
The more things change, the more they stay the same. And in some senses, that's a good thing.
Louisiana state troopers, notorious for being overzealous in their pursuit of people travelling with drugs, busted Texas legend Willie Nelson and four others with mushrooms and weed. Law enforcement officials issued citations for the men after an early morning commercial vehicle inspection on I-10.
"When the door was opened and the trooper began to speak to the driver, he smelled the strong odor of marijuana," a news release said.
John Q. Law found 1 1/2 pounds of marijuana and several ounces of narcotic mushrooms. We're not real sure where the boys were headed, as Willie's website has no tour dates listen until Farm Aid in New Jersey on September 30, which is two weeks away. With that amount of hallucinogens on the bus, maybe the boys were intent on taking their sweet ass time getting there.
Shouldn't there be a grandfather clause when it comes to mushrooms and weed? Like, if you're old enough to be a grandfather, you shouldn't be allowed to get busted? Or, maybe we could just make those drugs legal for everyone? Either way, leave Willie alone, damn it!
Willie has a new album produced by Ryan Adams coming out soon. We doubt this will have much of a negative effect on album sales, although Wal-Mart might not be too stoked.
All of the men were released after being issued a citation.
