Austinist Giveaway: MSTRKRFT at FactoryPeople, This Friday

As MSTRKRFT, Canadian duo Jesse F. Keeler and Al-P first gained prominence back in late 2004 for their remix of The Panthers' “Thank Me With Your Hands," included in a Vice sampler disc. Since then, they've gone on to remix everyone from Bloc Party ("Two More Years") and Metric ("Monster Hospital") to Buck 65 ("Kennedy Killed The Hat") and The Gossip ("Listen Up").
“We like to make the songs we remix our own,” says Jesse, or "JFK," of the dozen-plus songs to which they've applied their signature turntable wizardry. “I think we approach it differently because we’re not coming from a strictly dance background, and we always ask the question ‘How am I going to make this something I would have made?’ We work on everything until we’re content, and feel like we’ve inserted enough of ourselves to warrant having our name attached to it.”
Earlier this summer, MSTRKRFT released their first studio recording, The Looks. Containing all-originial material, the album, according to a friend of ours, "rocks like Daft Punk in bed with The Clash."
Check out their Voltron-inspired music video for "Work On You," the latest single from The Looks:
This Friday night, they'll be in Austin to play a private, guestlist-only party at FactoryPeople. We're giving away a pair of spots as well as a copy of The Looks to one lucky reader -- simply fill out the form below for your chance to win!
Update: Congrats, E. Lim!
