Austin City Limits Taping Ticket Drops

sufjan.jpgMaybe you’ve heard, but there is a festival going on this weekend. Well, what would an Austin City Limits Festival be without some excellent Austin City Limits television show tapings?

The scheduled tapings are as follows:

  • Calexico- Wednesday at 8 p.m.
  • Van Morrison – Thursday at 8 p.m.
  • Sufjan Stevens followed by the Raconteurs - Sunday at 8 p.m.
  • Cat Power – Monday the 18th at 8 p.m.
  • Damian Marley – Tuesday the19th at 9 p.m.

All of the ticket drops have been announced and are as follows:

  • Van Morrison - There will be no giveaways for this show. Sorry.
  • Sufjan Stevens & The Raconteurs - Considering the rush on tickets for Sufjan at the Paramount, it is obvious that this will be a hot ticket. Oh yea, and some band called The Raconteurs is playing. Anywho...due to fear of a crazy turnout for tickets at a locally-owned business not quite prepared for that sort of spontaneous traffic, the ticket drop for this show will be announced Friday at 8pm on KUT's Left of the Dial radio program. So, if you're at ACL watching John Mayer or Van Morrison, you are SOL.
  • Cat Power - Friday, 9/15, @ noon @ KLRU
  • Damian Marley -Sunday, 9/17, @ 2 p.m. @ KLRU

KLRU is located on the University of Texas campus at the corner of Dean Keeton and Guadalupe. Tickets will be distributed on a first come, first served basis. There is a limit of two tickets per person.

Important Note: These tickets are “space available” and do not guarantee admission to the taping.

  • Now I want a Man Man mullet. I blame Declan.

  • Declan McManus

    Hmmmm,

I guess we all know which monkey with the bad Man Man mullet couldn't score tickets better than 4 rows from the back of the balcony, eh?

I bet your girlfriend with the asymmetrical bob and horrendous tattoo of swallows being eaten by a japanese fish will make her way up to the front row...

...to sit with me in my Threadless tshirt.

Is that better? It's been a long week and it's only Wednesday. I've got to save some disgust for the 7 people who will be watching I Love You But I've Chosen A Bad Band Name To Distract People From How Bad Our Songs Are at ACL Fest, dontchaknow?

  • Hmmmm

That might be the limpest rip on hipsters I've ever read. EVER.

  • Declan McManus

I'm really only going to the Sufjan show to count Threadless tshirts; The music doesn't matter to me.

  • Declan McManus

Feel free to say hi... or shoot me from the balcony with a high powered rifle.

  • Declan McManus

Odam, I'm getting soft in my old age.

Seriously though, people always seem shocked when non-scalpers/ticket brokers land the best seats. I've just had incredibly good luck over the years using the internet to score tickets in the front 10 rows.

  • odam

fire up the margarita machine, declan. and the gig is finally up, DM. i now know where you will be sitting friday night. anonymity no longer.

  • Declan McManus

In other Paramount news: Jimmy Buffet is playing there next week!

  • Declan McManus

I fired up two web browsers while sitting in bed that Saturday morning and both of them came up with a pair of seats in row AA. I know some people who scored 2nd row (BB) both nights too.

The good news for everyone involved is that 8 seats (4 for me, 4 for those aforementioned friends) in the front two rows were not purchased by scalpers or ticket brokers.

  • odam

    my bad, declan.

carol, you want to ask declan a question like that, you better have on a fire-retardant, castigation proof astronaut suit. or, maybe not, cause you're sweet and he knows better.

as for sufjan, well, i just don't know what to tell you. quitbeing greedy. as for the paramount, there may be a ticket giveaway going on here tomorrow.

  • carol

how the hell did you get front row? I was up 30 minutes early and a friend was too and we could not get the site to work at all that morning. Friend got 8th row, I got 12th row. So how am I supposed to go to the sufjan show friday and get those ACL tickets?! Odam, make it happen.

  • Declan McManus

Hey now, I recently said I think Golden Bear's album is great!

  • odam

he comes out of hiding...vitriol in tact.

  • Declan McManus

Oh, and here is some more salt for your axe wound: I'll enjoy Sufjan's intimacy from the front row both nights just because I remembered to wake up 5 minutes early one Saturday morning and paid $30/ticket.

    I can't believe people are offering/asking > $100/ticket on Craigslist.

  • Declan McManus

I wouldn't consider your Salvation Army couch and 19 inch TV an "intimate setting".

The odds of getting in to see one, much less ALL, of the ACL tapings are pretty slim.

  • pd

So Damian Marley is playing the festival Sunday at 2:30 and KLRU decided to give the tickets away Sunday at 2:00? That's a way of crowd control...

  • matchstriker

some of us like seeing 6 bands in intimate settings over the course of a weekend while some of us prefer to see 30 bands in a mass of people over a weekend. different strokes for different folks kinda thing.

  • Did anyone else feel that not so subtle poke at us ACL attendees somewhere near the middle of this one?
