Out the Other's ACL Previews: Los Amigos Invisibles, Calexico, The New Orleans Social Club and More

Los Amigos Invisibles-1

I can't believe that one week from today, it will all be over - and I'll be waking up and getting ready to fly home to Nashville. But I guess I should just focus on getting through the next four days... and it's going to be hard, because something tells me I'm going to distracted to the point of being completely useless this week at work. Anyway, here's your Monday morning dose of ACL previews - and if you want to waste your work day learning about the rest of the bands, check out my entire ACL Arist Previews Page.

Eli Young Band - Hailing from Denton, Texas, the Eli Young Band plays a mix of country and rock, counting the Jayhawks, the Black Crowes, and even John Mellencamp as influences. (full preview)

Melissa Reaves - Melissa Reaves has been wowing American audiences for more than a decade with her powerhouse of a voice and electrifying blend of rock 'n roll, funk, groove and R&B. (full preview)

The New Orleans Social Club - Coming together a short six weeks after hurricane Katrina, the New Orleans Social Club brought together an amazing array of talent to prove the resilience of the New Orleans music scene. (full preview)

Robyn Ludwick - As the sister of Charlie and Bruce Robinson, Robyn Ludwick is only now beginning to admit who her brothers are on stage, but the singer's mix of Americana, country and bluegrass proves that she has more to offer than just the family name. (full preview)

Sam Roberts - This Canadian export doesn't have the same indie rock sound you typically hear from a band out of Montreal, and their loose, rocking style with a strong '70s influence will definitely get your attention. (full preview)

Calexico - The stuffed crow that hangs from Calexico's lead singer's mic stand during performances manages to iconify the essence of this Tucson band and their uniquely beautiful music. (full preview)

Sara Hickman - Austin's own Sara Hickman returns to the Austin Kiddie Limits Stage this year, setting aside her more mature material to perform the music she has composed for children. (full preview)

Los Lonely Boys - The Garza brothers are carrying on the musical family tradition, blending Tejano, conjunto, soul, country and old-fashioned rock & roll - while managing to snag a Grammy along the way. (full preview)

Los Amigos Invisibles - This group of friends banded together in 1991 to create the best (or only?) dance band in Venezuela, and the party they have created by blending disco, funk, acid jazz and a wide variety of other genres is a party I don't want to miss. (full preview)

Peter Dawson - Peter Dawson has been straddling the line between country's Texas and Nashville styles for the past five years, and probably hoping that his hero will be around to hear "Willie Nelson For President" at the festival next weekend. (full preview)
