Trophy’s Grand Opening Weekend

One of our favorite dive bars in Austin, Trophy's, has given itself a bit of a face-lift. And they are kicking things off in style with a Grand Opening weekend that is sure to rock your face.

Friday night, Crash Gallery and The Lions will rock South Congress to its foundation, along with their Special Guest. If you have not seen The Lions, they are not to be missed. They drop the pedal and provide a full-frontal assault with psychedelic-tinged rock that will blow you away, while Crash Gallery provides a danceable rocked electroclash that will leave you pogo-ing and spilling your beer all over the dance floor. Their Special Guest Friday night is Ghostland Observatory, a duo with a proven track record of moving people to dance madness, to such a point that at one of their shows a year ago, we heard someone say in stunned amazement as he purveyed the sweaty dance madness, “Somebody’s gonna get fucked!” Indeed.

The music keeps coming Saturday night with the ambient moody rock stylings of The Story Of. Opening will be intelligent prog rockers The Mercers, along with another band that gives nods to late 70s/early 80s Brit rock, Boxing Lesson. A Special Guest is also scheduled to appear, but we don’t know who that is at this time.

Head down South Congress all weekend to rediscover an old favorite and rock out to some of the best bands Austin has to offer.
