A day late and a dollar short:

1005 East 8th - $289,000, 1,786 beautiful Victorian in the nicest part of the east side. Fantastic original details, including doors with working transoms. Love the interior color scheme. Across from the French Legation. Zoned to Mathews/O'Henry/Austin High. A steal at this price. Probably the best house pick so far.

4206 Wildwood - $364,000, 2,055 square feet in French Place. Beautiful trees, great windows, some nice stone. Large house near Patterson Park and Mueller.

2007 Garden - $234,000, 1,300 garden house on Garden Street. Nice front fence, side alley. Large lot near Town Lake. No interior pics, so it probably needs some work, but a nice location, nice looking interior, large lot - could be a good deal.

I'm not affiliated with any real estate firms - I just post houses I like. I don't think it even helps the sellers (or their brokers) that much, becuase people looking for a house would probably see my picks anyway. I don't think anyone sees a house on here and thinks, "I wasn't going to buy a house, but that one is awesome - I'm gonna go get it." I think the listings are interesting because they show what the current real estate market is like and I like old houses. I hope that readers find them to be interesting, so I post them.

I'm not trying to help brokers - I would prefer to post more FSBOs - if anyone has a central Austin FSBO they would like me to post, email it to me. They are often hard to find information about and I am lazy.

I would post more houses under $200k, but I don't see that many that I like. I post them when I do. Central Austin is expensive. Feel free to email me with houses under $200k that you think are cool.
