SXSW 2007 Now Accepting Applications

South by Southwest (SXSW) has begun accepting applications for the 2007 music and film festivals. This year, all applications must be submitted electronically, including music and press kits. Here's the summary:

SXSW Music

• Early Application: $20, Due October 6, 2006
  
• Regular Deadline: $30, Due November 10 (US artists) or October 27 (international artists)
  
• Showcase Notification Deadline: February 9, 2007
  
• Things you'll need to apply: name, address, phone, and email of the applying act's label representative and/or agent; an electronic press kit (EPK) with mentions, reviews, notices, or articles about your band; a major credit card

SXSW Film

• Early Application: $25 shorts, $35 features, Due November 17
  
• Regular Deadline: $30 shorts, $40 features, Due December 8
  
• Categories Accepted: Narrative Feature, Documentary Feature, Narrative Short, Documentary Short, Animated Short, Experimental Short, and Music Video
  
• Qualification for Short Films: Under 40 minutes
  
• Qualification for Experimental Shorts: "those with NO narrative thread"
  
• Trailers and works in progress not accepted
  
• Final selections will screen on 35mm and HDCam
  
• Showcase Notification Deadline: Feburary 16, 2007
