Hot Real Estate Listings - South Side Special

We haven't seen much come up in the '04 lately, but there are 04 new '04 listings this week:
1608 Newton - $349,000, 1,728 square foot brick house on giant lot. Very close to SoCo hotness. Some questionable recent looking interior design choices (not a fan of "diagonal"), but whatever. Big house, big lot, nice location. Looks good. What is up with the number? Is the pictured mirrored? Is this 1908 Newton? Confused. |
1807 Brackenridge - $354,000, 1,140 square foot 1927 cute clapboard home in Travis Heights near Stacy Park. Interior looks great- lots of white, nice floors, good looking fixtures, including several ceiling fans. |
2501 Durwood - $235,000, 996 square foot bungalow on a dead-end street in south SoCo across from Gillis Park. Good trees. Rip out that carpet and this could be a winner. |
3601 Garden Villa - $259,000, 2,145 square feet! Huge for the price in 78704, but pretty far south Bouldin. Nice front door, but the rest looks like it could use some reno. Also, those hedges are kind of a funny shape, if you think round is funny, which we do. Round is funny. |

Hmm. $120/SF for that Bouldin house. That's cheeeap. Wonder what's up with it. (Other than the round hedges. *Every* hedge is round. It's rather odd!!)
What's the deal with these high priced crap houses? Is South Austin the new Westlake?
High priced crap houses are the result of "progress"
