Encore Screening of For Love & Stacie Tonight at Alamo South

stacie.jpgWe've all been there. Cloud 9 has transmogrified into an ominous thundercloud of misery and cupid has decided to use your heart as a punching bag. You walk around wondering what went wrong, playing the "what if?" game. You blame yourself; you blame the other person; you blame Dianna; you drink some booze. The minutes tick off the clock like hours. You think about what you can do to get them back. Ah, break ups.

In his low-budget gem, For Love & Stacie, director Raymond Schlogel mines the painful terrain of the breakup. After getting dumped by the girl of his dreams, struggling filmmaker Michael decides to win her back the way so many of us have, by making a movie. He dives into the endeavor of the heart and ends up making the feature film that is a shining and painful example of the lengths to which the hopelessly romantic of us will go in order to hold on to something that is not ours.

What results is a darkly comic (read: creepy) look at the emotional trauma unique to the loss of someone we love and how that old adage about hurting most the ones we love always seems to hold up in the end. If you've ever gone too far to get someone back, or just had the idea but your better judgment kept your from being rash, this film is for you.

The Austin Underground Film Festival, in conjunction with Austin production company Underground Planet, is pleased to host a special screening of the locally-made movie they call "the city's best-kept film secret."

The movie will screen tonight at the Alamo Drafthouse South Lamar and will feature a Q&A session with director Raymond J. Schlogel following the film.
