The year was 1992: America Smelled Like Teen Spirit, although Dr. Dre was sending heavy wafts of the Chronic across the cultural landscape. Jack Nicholson was telling that punk bitch Tom Cruise that he could not handle the truth. Boutros Boutros-Ghali was the U.N. Secretary General and David Letterman could not stop making jokes using the Egyptian's name. The first George Bush was booting all over the Japanese. The FA Premiership was in its inaugural season. The Long Island Lolita was busting caps in hos.
And a hip little clothing boutique was staking its claim to what would become Austin's restaurant row.
Flipnotics Clothespad opened that year, yep it even pre-dated the coffee shop, bringing funky and vintage threads to South Austin.
This weekend they're celebrating their 14th Anniversary (damn, we feel old) with a Stuff a Bag Sale. Ladies, buy a bag for 10 bucks and stuff it to the brim with vintage and gently worn finds. Pretty sweet! But don't fret, fellas, there is also a store-wide sale featuring all men's and women's clothes at 20% OFF.
So head down to Flipnotics this weekend, grab an iced beverage and head downstairs to shop it up.
