What Helps Keep Austin Famous...

...are great bands like local powerpoppers What Made Milwaukee Famous. Probably still hyperventilating from being signed to Barsuk records, the boys are in town in the midst of an exhaustive tour supporting the French Kicks to keep it real with their hometown fans.

If you were lucky enough to catch them in the past two years, you most likely left the show with a copy of their album Trying to Never Catch Up, originally self-released to unanimously glowing reviews in 2004. If you didn't, on August 22nd WMMF re-released a re-engineered version of said album, this time on their new label and with four extra tracks produced by Spoon's drummer, Jim Eno.

To celebrate these recent successes they'll be playing an in-store at Waterloo Records tomorrow afternoon, where we've been assured that there will be plenty of free beer. Later on, at the Beauty Bar, WMMF will be on hand for a listening party of their "new" album. While you're contemplating the great tunes, you can tie one on courtesy of Tito's vodka and pick up some cool Barsuk records schwag. Don't miss this chance to come out and support a local band that's keeping Austin on the musical map!

I will be at both of these events. I'll be the woman handing out WMMF stickers (yes, I'm a member of the Barsuk street team).
