Mammas, Don't Let Your Babies Grow Up to Slaughter Horses

Over the past 40 years, the voice of Willie Nelson has come to represent everything Texan and Western. And now he is using that significant voice to speak out against the abuse of another symbol of the American West, wild horses. The Abbott, Texas native has joined in the fight to help protect wild horses from being slaughtered and used as Happy Meals overseas.

On September 7th, Congress will convene to argue over HR 503, a bit of legislation that would ban the slaughter of the horses.

"If you've ever been around horses a lot, especially wild horses, you know they are part of the American heritage. I don't think its right that we kill them and eat them," Nelson said in a telephone interview with the AP Tuesday.

A rally has been planned for September 5th in Washington DC to support the bill sponsored by Rep. John Sweeney, R-N.Y.

You don't really want to find one of these little fellas between your bread at a sandwich stand in Budapest, do you?

stozzel-people dont eat horses in the us- the meat gets shipped to overseas

unfortunatly, slaughter houses are bumping in canada so often the horses just go across the border.

you don't wanna eat a horse, don't eat a horse.

But don't tell others what they can and can't eat. It's starts with horses and fois gras, then moves on to veal, lamb, chicken, cow. Then we're all sitting around eating tofu wondering where our freedom went.

    Fascists.
