Under the Wire!

All hail the last minute edition of This Week in Theatre! Cutting right to the chase, our Austinist Pick of the Week is, not surprisingly, Sodomy & Pedicures: A Pinko Feminazi Confesses. We interviewed the show’s creator, Jessica Hedrick, and she’s hilarious. Read it for yourself if you don’t believe us. Then read the comments – you’ll notice endorsements from local theatre big wigs galore. Directed by Rude Mech Sarah Richardson, and assisted by Physical Planter Carlos Trevino, appearing at the play! Theatre starting tonight at 8pm, reservations by emailing this person. Go see it.

NEW PLAYS/FRESH VOICES
Another highly-anticipated show that runs only two weekends. We already posted about this. Featuring local talents Zell Miller, III and Maggie Gallant, these two new, original, one-person works promise to be most excellent. As this is the last-minute edition of TWIT, and time is of the essence, we won’t repeat ourselves much more'n that. So there.

CONFESSIONS OF A MORMON BOY
Ahhh, here’s another show popular in NYC that has recently arrived on Austin’s shores. It’s about your everyday Mormon from Utah who ends up as a male prostitute in NYC. And it’s true. Performed by the former hooker himself, Steven Fales, at Arts on Real. Thursdays, Fridays and Saturdays at 8pm, $30, tickets and info here. Runs 'til September 9.

KEEPIN’ IT WEIRD
Last year’s humungo smash hit returns to the Zach Scott Theatre. Filled with tales of the strange and good ‘ol Austin lore (and Leslie!), this one is sure to sell-out again, and again, and again, so get your tickets now. Admit it alterna-boy, even though you usually shun the mainstream, this show has you just a little enticed. We know it’s true. Thursdays, Fridays and Saturdays at 7:30pm, Sundays at 7pm. More info here.

BLUE/ORANGE: A READING
This play was an enormous critical success in the UK, brought to Austin stages for three nights of staged reading. Yum. Tonight at the Hideout at 7:30pm, tomorrow at Hyde Park Theatre at 3pm, and Sunday at Hyde Park Theatre at 7:30pm. Email these guys for more info.

Phew. That's it. For everything still running from last week, check out last week TWIT.
