- Kinky Friedman's proposed energy plan for Texas calls for 20% of the electricity in the state to come from renewable sources by 2020.
- Jack Carter, offspring of former president Jimmy Carter, won the Democratic nomination in the Nevada primary and will move on to face Republican John Ensign in November.
- U.S. District Judge Anna Diggs Taylor has ruled that the U.S. government's domestic eavesdropping program is unconstitutional and should stop immediately. The Bush camp has vowed to appeal her decision as soon as freakin' possible.
- According to China's Ambassador Sha Zukang, the U.S. should "shut up" and "keep quiet." This new age approach to diplomacy came about when the ambassador was asked about U.S. concerns over China's defense spending.
- Chinese officials are having a hard time deciding whether to restore a centuries-old brothel or tear it down.
