Music Bits: ACL Fest, The Backyard, Wilco, And The Stones

- Rolling Stones tickets are on sale tomorrow at 10am via Ticketmaster. Prices are $75 for students, $95 for general admission, and a whopping $350 for bleacher seating near the stage. Expect at least an additional $10-20/ticket in service charges.
- ACL Fest acts continue to drop like flies: Feist and Kasey Chambers have both left the bill. They join a parade that also includes Editors, Damien Rice, Alexi Murdoch, Fields, and Goldfrapp. To counter these moves, ACL has added Canadian indie-rockers The Dears and Austin's own Ghostland Observatory as replacements. In aftershow news, Nada Surf has replaced Feist as Sparklehorse's support act at Emo's on 9/16.
- Expect a announcement of a fall series of shows at the Backyard: both Widespread Panic (11/2-4) and Barenaked Ladies (11/11) will play the venue in November.
- Wilco is hitting Texas in November, but are not stopping in Austin. There are October shows scheduled in both Fort Worth and San Antonio, though, so Tweedyheads take note.
- Shiner's annual Bocktoberfest concert lineup will be announced on August 28th. The Old 97's and Blue October are already confirmed for the event.
- Irving and +/- will headline the Stitch fashion show at Austin Music Hall on 11/11. DJ Mel and DJ Jennifer will also be on hand for the runway show and shopping event.
- Finally, free beer and good tunes: What Made Milwaukee Famous will celebrate the release of their new CD on Barsuk records with an in-store at Waterloo next Friday 8/24. As always, a keg of St. Arnold's will be on hand. Fantastic.
