Fresh off the Block: AArC Newsletter

aboutspot.jpgDo you ogle bronze patinas? Can you hear the siren song of handblown glass? If so, you're an esthete who needs to be pampered (bless your heart!), and the AArC's freshly minted newsletter can help.

It details the projects of the AArC, or Architectural Artisans Collaborative, established in 1993 to, "...promote awareness of hand-crafted architectural detailing and to express the unfolding and unique spirit of Austin through its built environment." In other words, to make this town downright pretty.

The group's twenty-odd members labor over stone, glass, steel, wood, and clay in their shops and studios, then contribute the fruits to public and private Austin venues. Clayworks Studio, for example, an AArC affiliate, just delivered more of those rustic "No Dumping" tiles to the City of Austin. They offer a nice touch to your average concrete-laden intersection, eh?

The premier AArC summer newsletter covers this project and more, and the upcoming fall issue will offer an insider preview of the East Austin Studio Tour in November. So put that fancy optical mouse to good use and subscribe: mail clayworks(@)clayworks.net. Just try not to shoot your eye out.
