Austinist Music Preview: New Release Tuesday

It's Tuesday, August 15th: what's new at the record store? Hang on kiddos, we're hooking you up.
Guillemots Through the Windowpane (Polydor)
For those of us already familiar with this album thanks to the Fantastic Plastic release, the Polydor version isn't news, but given its nomination for a 2006 Mercury Prize and the general greatness of it, we're still pretty darned excited that it's finally (officially) reaching our shores.
Guillemots: Made Up Love Song #43 (mp3)
Various Artists Snakes on a Plane: The Album (Decaydance / New Line Records)
If you're looking for an album full of songs inspired by a movie that no one has ever seen, this is for you. Cee-Lo, Cobra Starship and Captain Ahab (winner of an online contest for less-than-buzzing bands) grace this serpentine soundtrack along with mood-appropriate remixes by bands like Fall Out Boy, Panic! At the Disco and others.

Hot Snakes Thunder Down Under (Swami)
Before they broke up, the Hot Snakes (including members of Rocket From the Crypt, Drive Like Jehu and Black Heart Procession) were recorded in Australia at Triple J for Radio Broadcast, by Grammy nominee Greg Wales. Everything here is previously un-released, though you may find some of the tracks to be familiar (a few have appeared in different forms on other releases). Grab the Snakes' last studio recording before their plane went down.
