Soliciting the Assistance of Tom Cruise: This Week's New Movie Releases!

We all know which movie you're going to see this weekend, so let's just cut the chit-chat and get down to it.

*Talladega Nights: The Ballad of Ricky Bobby
Hotly anticipated, highly hilarious, and rife with corporate logos, this flick is about as "All-American" as you can get without draping yourself in Old Glory, stuffing your face with apple pie, and using insider trade information to pad your personal bank account while denying health benefits to your employees.

*The Night Listener Austinist review
Imperfect, perhaps, but at least it's not RV.

*The Descent
Hey laaadies! Looking for something super-fun to do with your girlfriends this weekend? Why not explore some caves in remote Appalachia?! It’s the hip new way to get together, talk about feelings, and be brutally attacked by murderous humanoids who live in the dark!

Barnyard
You know what, kids really will watch anything.

The Mostly Unfabulous Social Life of Ethan Green
This film attempts to bring a comic strip to the big screen. Hmmm. Let’s hope the folks behind “Cathy” don’t get the same idea. Shudder.

*Austinist recommends. We also recommend these fine cinematic experiences: Clerks II, An Inconvenient Truth, Pirates of the Caribbean 2, A Prairie Home Companion, A Scanner Darkly, Strangers with Candy
