Political Tidbits & Outlawing Cleavage

- We are saddened by the report that goober candidate Carole Cougar Keeton Strayhorn has decided to relinquish her fight to get her nickname on the Nov. ballot. Mrs. Cougar will always be a "grandma" in our eyes and probably in the eyes of her grandchildren. In other goober news: Democratic candidate Chris Bell is calling UberGoober Rick Perry out on his lack of efforts to fund our state parks. Texas ranks near the bottom in funding versus the rest of the country.
- The United States Court of Appeals for the 5th Circuit has officially told Tom Delay that he cannot run away from the Nov. congressional ballot. His name will remain on the ballot despite the Grand Oil Party's efforts to replace it with a "stronger" candidate.
- Senate Democrats have blocked legislation that combined a minimum wage increase with estate tax breaks. The Senate's Number 2 Democrat, Richard J. Durbin from Illinois, called it the worst special-interest bill he had ever seen in his time in Congress. The GOP believe that this was just another attempt to make the Republican-led Congress appear inept and useless.
- We have lost count on the number of times that Defense Secretary Donald Rumsfeld's resignation has been demanded over his handling of the Iraq occupation. This time it is New York Democratic Sen. Hillary Rodham Clinton calling for Rummy to back his bags. Sen. Clinton's request follows recent reports from two U.S. senior generals that Iraq is heading towards civil war unless the sectarian violence can be stopped.
- Arlington Independent School District has issued an new addition to their dress code.
Here is an excerpt from this HOT story:
The new dress code reads, in part, “The display of cleavage is unacceptable. Low cut blouses, tops, sweaters, etc. with plunging necklines are not allowed."
The rest of the world is "going to hell in a hand basket," but we won’t bore you with the details. Have a great weekend.
