Leander Gets Ridiculously Over The Top Extreme Sports Park in 2007

Remember Rad? Or Gleaming The Cube? How about Gotcha? Did you ever think that it was so unfair that your town never had any of that cool paintball/skatepark/BMX stuff? Well, you may be in your 30s, but your (kids') luck is about to change.
News 8 reports that developers have broken ground in Leander on a $66 million extreme sports park, the likes of which we can barely imagine. The park will include a huge skatepark, BMX tracks, motorcycle racing trails, paintball courses, an RC car racecourse, a 'tow lake' for water skiing and wakeboarding, and a beach! Other facilities will include a pro shop, a sports bar, an RV park, karate classes, and indoor basketball and volleyball courts.
For more detailed information, check out the amazingly long FAQ at the TexasXPark site. Our favorite long-winded but quite amusing question from the page:
Q: Ok-ok, I have read through all these questions and answers, reviewed the web site, do I understand this correct? I live in downtown Austin and have three children. So we can buy a RV at your site, rent a RV space, and a stall for all our equipment that we can purchase at your facility. We can then take a train to your area, you guys pick us up and bring us to the park. My wife can shop in the SEDC or lay on the beach, read a book, sip a margarita or take a nap in our new RV. My daughter can play volley ball, my son can skateboard, and my other daughter can ride the trails with me on our new dirt bikes we purchased on site. We can play all day and listen to live music in the evenings and camp out in the RV Park. We can attend church services Sunday morning with the Racers for Christ and then keep on playing and relaxing, maybe go fishing as well. My wife can watch us on-line in the RV. And you guys will take us back to the train for our departure Sunday afternoon?? A: Yes, that’s the plan. We can’t wait!
The park will open in phases over several years beginning in 2007.
