OU Releases Starting QB

ou.jpgIn what should prove to be a very positive development for UT fans everywhere, Oklahoma University today released their starting quarterback, Rhett Bomar. After conducting an internal investigation, the team discovered that Bomar and another player received "payment over an extended period of time in excess of time actually worked." Barry Switzer must be awfully embarrassed.

But, apparently - regardless of whether this investigation was precipitated by a lurking NCAA - Bob Stoops has decided to run a tight ship up in Sooner Land.

"We spend a considerable amount of time addressing our players regarding their personal conduct and the NCAA rules," Stoops said in a statement. "They know exactly what we expect from them. Ultimately, they have to make right decisions. The same holds true for our boosters. When they do not, the consequences are serious, and we will not tolerate this behavior.I firmly believe that our program is stronger than any individual player and that a championship program cannot compromise its values."

Bomar was considered one of the best college quarterbacks heading into the season. He was much-heralded coming out of high school, finally picking OU over UT and other prominent programs. In his freshman season last year, he set an OU freshman record with 2,018 passing yards.

The Sooners also released starting offensive guard sophomore J.D. Quinn.

Wow - it only gets better. Apparently he worked at a car dealership owned by one of the football teams largest boosters, you know, the place where everyone in the athletic department goes to pay half price for new cars and the football coaches get to "demo" cars for months and months on end. On top of that he was getting paid for 40+ hours a week and was only there an average of 5 hours a week.

Oh wait, and the best part; he and his father were on a "ethics in college sports board" when he first came out of high school. Brilliant I tell you, brilliant. Nothing like jkeeping it under the radar.

I think you meant to write "He was much-heralded coming out of high school".

Did you really have to tell us 3 times or could an OU (grad?) not figure out how to post correctly?

Yeah, they should have just gone to UT and gotten kicked out for bad grades and getting busted with pot after calling the police on themselves. hahaha. OU will still win the Red River shootout this year, with or without Bomar. All they need is a healthy Peterson.

the Switzer comment was a little something i like to call sarcasm.

Isn't it amazing how the school always rids itself of any responsibility and puts the problem on the players? And why would Switzer be embarrased, its probably one of his businesses that employs most of their star players. If they were smart they would have just gone to UT and played and not had to work to get paid.
