D.C.’s family-friendly concert series has arrived in Austin, and all of you grumpy parents looking for something hip to do on Saturday afternoon can relax: The Asylum Street Spankers will be performing two sets at Ruta Maya beginning at 4:30 Saturday afternoon.
Rock N Romp is co-organized by Phil West and Austinist’s own Paige Maguire, and aims to involve music-loving adults who might not have the time or ability to get to shows a chance to mingle with other like-minded parents and expose their kids to the music community in a friendly, non-bar, non-ACL-induced heat stroke environment.
There will be Romps once a month, but Saturday’s is their first, so be sure to head down to Ruta Maya and watch the music, let your kids cut a rug, and get caffeinated with us as we support our local music scene, our music loving parents, and our kids.
The celebration will continue Saturday night at Club DeVille with an after party for grown ups only.
