Well this could be the last time. This could be the last time. May be the last time. I dont know.

stones.jpgMick, Keith and the boys are coming to town?

Statesman pop music guru Joe Gross has got some pretty amazing information on his blog right now. To wit: "Word has it that the world’s greatest rock ‘n’ roll band is coming to the world’s live music capital. Look for an announcement next week that the Stones will play Austin’s Zilker Park on Sunday, Oct. 22."

Wow!!

We have no furhter word on this, but check back with us and Joe in coming days. Now let the arguments begin: they are the greatest ever; they are totally washed up; Keith Richards is overrated; etc. Come on, we know you got it in you, Austin.

I'm such a huge stones fan, but finances and scheduling preventing me from making it to the Houston, Dallas or Little Rock Shows. I hadn't missed a tour since '81. Now they're playing a 10 minute walk from my front yard. I won't miss this one.

    Thank you rock gods!

they are as good live now as they were 20 years ago, probably not 30-40 years ago, but still good. if people have never seen the stones, they should definitely check this out. i still can't believe it's true. strange.

After lucking into catching the Stones in a 2,000 seater (in 1999) and a 4,000 seater (in 2003) I'm not sure if I'll hit Zilker... but age has not diminished The Stones live show. They are still solid, loud, and entertaining.

I wonder how many tickets they'll sell for a 1 (or 2 or 3 with openers) event like this at Zilker.

ACL Fest sold upwards of 60k/day in 2004 when the Pixies played (and a little less last year).

But, I can't imagine a set up of Zilker that would allow that many people to see a stage/large screens because its not a straight open field like a football field.

    I'm guessing somewhere around 30k.
