Ray Davies Returns to Waterloo. As in (the old city name for) Austin, not the record store, although said store does come into play in this little post. All this word play can be quite confusing, we know.
One of the most influential voices of the British Invasion and founding member of the Kinks, Ray Davies, will be taping a performance for Austin City Limits at the KLRU studios Monday night (July 24th) at 8pm. It should be a rollicking good time. And for pete's sake, he's a freaking Commander (CBE) in the Order of the British Empire. He's practically royalty. The show will air in October as a part of the new season of ACL.
In honor of his song Waterloo Sunset, tickets are being handed out today at Waterloo Records at 8:32pm (sunset). These tickets (max. 2 per person) will serve for admission on a first-come first-served basis and, therefore, do not guarantee entry. However, given that it is a Monday night taping, and considering many UT students are not here at this time of year, we think that you should be able to get in for the taping if you have a ticket in hand. So head over to Waterloo to get your ducats as the sun sets over the hills.
