Austinist Giveaway: Midlake/Dillinger Escape Plan at Emo's, Thursday

There's another one of those bipolar indoor-outdoor shows at Emo’s tomorrow night: sweet-as-candy indie pop inside, lurching packs of stoned werewolves outside. Oh, decisions, decisions...
Inside
Fresh off their gig opening for The Flaming Lips in Europe, Dentonites Midlake put on a little rock and roll program for us plain ol’ 'mericans. The Starlights Mints open with heaping fistfuls of sophisticated chamber-pop; Mints pal and multi-instrumentalist Ryan Lindsey opens for them. We don’t know much about this Lindsey character, but he definitely gets our vote for DIY-website-of-the-day.
Outside
Still touring their 2004 landmark Miss Machine, Dillinger Escape Plan bring their unclassifiable blend of progressive jazz and hardcore trash to the Emo’s outdoor stage. Hopefully they’ll do their Justin Timberlake cover; keep your fingers crossed. Along for the ride: Dysrhythmia, a similar-minded jazz-metal band from Philly; Made out of Babies, female-fronted scum-rock from Brooklyn; and World Inferno Friendship Society, a roving, pseudo-anarchistic Frankenstein composed of equal parts Dead Kennedys, Dresden Dolls, and Slovakian dance music. According to anonymous eyewitnesses, WIFS tend to attract hordes of slam-dancing topless lesbians covered in glitter. But what would you expect? They are from New Jersey.
