Well, it just seems that a bunch of people with money who are not from austin are telling people in power (also not from austin) what they could do with the space to make it "better." If they want to turn downtown austin into downtown dallas so badly then just get rid of 6th street too while your're at it. One more building of condos should just about do it.

That building is one of those cursed locations that for one reason or another *no* business ever survives there very long. Just like the former Mimosa location Barton Springs. Ancient Indian burial grounds perhaps?

yep, seems a little fishy. i am sure mayor wynn was like, "how in the hell do they have the money to stay there? find a way to get them out. and while you're at it, get rid of Pinky's, too." i don't want to be a development nazi, but it would be nice to have something there besides a schwaggy strip club. not sure what would work there. a mid-leve to high-end restaurant? a music club won't, apparently. see Steamboat. but it is such a big space. what to do...what to do...?
