Bastille Day Celebration: Let Them Eat Baguettes

fetedelabastille2006.jpg

Searching for a great way to celebrate Bastille Day? Austinist has been tipped to what will certainly be a célébration magnifique. Although not the national holiday it is in France, you can still celebrate Saturday at the Texas Culinary Academy's Bastille Day Celebration. Bastille Day celebrates the storming of the Bastille, a prison and symbol of tyranny, that signaled the beginning of the French Revolution. A holiday for some, and an excuse to party like it's 1789 for everyone else.

The Texas Culinary Academy's celebration will showcase a variety of French foods, entertainment, and live cooking demonstrations by local french restaurants (Aquarelle and Capitol Brasserie) and TCA instructors. Grape Vine Market will co-host a wine and cheese tasting from 2-4p in TCA's Ventana retaurant during the celebration, accompanied by a TCA-created tasting menu. Grab your beret and head over to TCA on Saturday, just don't mention the World Cup. Viva La France!
