Low Brow High Fashion: Project Pin-Way

If you're like us people we know, you sat glued to your TV last night for the season premiere of Bravo's Project Runway. And while this year's cast can't hold a candle to last year's hotties, you've doubtless already started picking favorites among the Season 3 designers.

Take your unhealthy obsession one step further with a little design contest being held here in town, involving several thousand leftover buttons from last year's First Night Austin NYE celebration. Project Pin-way challenges Austin's fashionistas -- professional, amateur, or closeted -- to create something fabulous using the little rectangular badges.

Working in pairs, you're allowed to design either clothing or accessories, and even incorporate "other recyclables." Coinciding with the finale showdown of Project Runway, Project Pin-way plans to host a fashion show where they'll show off some of the more interesting designs. And, quite possibly, some sort of First Night Austin 2007 involvement will be offered to the "winner."
