Austin Man of Iron Less Than Five Hours From Treadathlon Domination

shawn10.jpgPure Austin's Shawn Bostad began his 12-hour treadmill marathon at 9am this morning, covering an astounding 48.6 miles by 3pm. You can find him at the Pure Austin Quarry Lake, off Braker and 183, until 9pm tonight.

Shawn's set out to beat Martin Tighe's record distance of 85.83 miles, and at an average of 8.1 miles per hour, he's certainly on track. As you might recall when we first mentioned this last week, he's doing it to help out the Austin Miracle League at Town and Country, which gives special-needs children the ability to play baseball as a team and run around a synthetic field and otherwise engage in normal kid-type things:

I, Shawn Bostad, local triathlete and fitness specialist at Pure Austin, will run on a treadmill for 12 straight hours. I'm asking those interested in the fundraiser,to make a pledge per mile or simply donate a flat amount. The fundraiser will be held at the Quarry Lake Pure Austin and will begin at 7:00am, July 10th, and end at 7:00pm that evening. All interested in watching me perform the 12 hour run are encouraged to stop by and make a pledge.

Pledging $50 or more gets you a free one-day pass to Pure Austin; they'll also be raffling off 5 personal training sessions if you stop by the gym today!
