*Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Man's Chest
It seems like forever ago that Pirates of the Caribbean: The Curse of the Black Pearl took the world by storm. Depp was nominated for a friggin’ OSCAR, for Jeebus’ sake. We’re almost positive that won’t happen again, but we’re not ashamed to admit we’ll pay full admission price for this fluffy bit of high seas fun, even with its ridiculously long running time (150 minutes). We’re suckers like that.

The Death of Mr. Lazarescu
Two and a half hours of watching a 62 year old man going through the painful (in more ways than one) health care system in Romania? Wow, thanks, but we’re booked solid with colonic enemas and painkiller-free root canals.
The Heart of the Game
This film chronicles the Roosevelt High School girls’ basketball team for six crazy seasons. Ludacris is in it. Oh, that was supposed to be a selling point.
The King
We caught a screening of this film, starring (dreamy) Gael Garcia Bernal and (decidedly less dreamy) William Hurt, at this year’s SXSW. It wasn’t really what we expected. In fact, we were kind of disturbed for days after we watched it. Actually, we’re in therapy now because of it.

when i saw a preview for the new Pirates film, i was (ironically) delighted to see that "the natives" play an active role as the barbaric antagonists. considering Nacho Libre, the upcoming mel gibson movie, Apocalypto, and now this, its pretty evident that Latino is the new Black.
