Attention area stomachs: Let’s get ready to rumble. A visit to the soon-to-expand Wheatsville Food Co-Op reminded us that Wheatsville is ground zero for delicious vegetarian Frito-pies. One visit to their deli counter in the back will remind you how you used to let your freak flag fly back in the day, as well as ensure instant sensory gratification in the form of beans, onions, fritos, and the rest of the ingredients in their gastronomically sound veggie Frito-pie.

Ask Robin Kelley at P&K Grocery about the amazing French breakfast cheese she shared with us while we absently careened about her south Austin marvel of a store. The cheese was creamy and firm, and if you haven’t yet visited the store, it’s funky, kicky, jaunty, and fun. Sniff the egg-white soaps, leaf through cookbooks, pick out a postcard for the one that got away, pick up some foo-foo fizzy water from varying European countries, and order a ready-made sandwich to go. We did.
